THE Ateneo Blue Eagles swept the De La Salle Green Spikers, 26-24, 25-19, 25-17, on Monday at the Philsports Arena to move on to the Spikers Turf Collegiate Conference Finals.
Marck Espejo led the Blue Eagles with 24 points, including six service aces. Rex Intal added nine markers while Joshua Villanueva chipped in eight as Ateneo advanced to the championship without dropping a match this conference, including the best-of-three semifinals against the Green Spikers.
"We started on the right foot and yung maturity ng players ko lumabas kanina," Ateneo head coach Oliver Almadro said.
"Start pa lang, we have to start strong and finish strong. Siyempre, the other team they prepared a lot and they prepared well, so don't take anything lightly," he added.
After taking a tough five-setter win in the series opener, Almadro asked his players to step up in Game Two.
"Yung composure namin, nag-iba because we experienced a five-set game so I asked my players to step up,” said Almadro.
Arjay Onia paced the Green Spikers with 12 points, Raymark Woo and Mike Frey added nine and six markers, respectively.
