Sophomore Alyssa Valdez powered the top-seeded Lady Eagles with 21 points and Fille Cainglet added 10 as the Katipunan-based squad cruised to its fifth straight victory.
Coach Roger Gorayeb sent in most of the Lady Eagles reserves and Amy Ahomiro shone with seven points.
“Masaya ako. At least, nandoon pa rin kami sa itaas,” said Gorayeb. “Itong laro na ito ay para talaga sa mga second stringers para kapag kailangan sila in the near future, meron na silang feeling na naglalaro sila.”
Hannah Rebecca Mangulabnan came up with 10 points for UP, which now has a 1-4 win-loss card.
Defending champion La Salle dominated National University, 25-12, 25-17, 25-19.
Michelle Gumabao finished with 10 points for the Lady Spikers, who occupy second spot with a 4-1 win-loss record.
Dindin Santiago produced 12 points for NU, which absorbed its third loss in five games.
In men’s play, University of Sto. Tomas downed University of the East, 30-28, 23-25, 25-13, 25-19, with Romnick Rico leading the Tigers with 21 points.
Mark Gil Alfafara and Salvador Depante chipped in 18 markers apiece for the España-based spikers, who recorded their fourth win in five games and claimed second spot in the standings.
Home Lauresta scored 17 points and Angelo Torres had 11 markers for UE, which sits in eighth place with a 1-record.
National U dominated Adamson University, 26-24, 25-22, 25-19, for its fifth victory in as many outings.
Peter Den Mar Torres led the Bulldogs with 16 markers, while John Berlin Paglinawan and Reuben Inaudito added 13 and 10, respectively, for NU.
Ron Jay Galang and Armando Maleon had a combined 24 points for Adamson, which now has a 2-3 win-loss record in fourth spot.
