CHINESE Taipei took fifth place in the 2015 Asian Under 23 Women’s Volleyball Championships, downing India, 25-17, 25-23, 25-9, on Saturday at the Philsports Arena.
Li-Wen Chang scored 18 points, Tzu-Ya Chen and Wei-Hua Wu added nine markers apiece, while Chen-Yu Huang contributed eight for Chinese Taipei.
The Taiwanese gave 21 points to India through errors but still came up with a quick win in one hour and 18 minutes.
Chinese Taipei hit 12 service aces compared to India’s five points from the service line.
Wan-Jung Lee registered 19 of Chinese Taipei’s 26 excellent sets, while India had only 10 as a team.
Taiwanese also covered the floor better with 24 excellent digs compared to India’s 18.
Muraleedharan Shyamala Poornima scored 11 points for India, which finished sixth in the tournament.
