China overcomes Thailand in four to rule Asian Under-23 Women's Volleyball Championship

CHINA downed Thailand, 27-25, 21-25, 25-21, 25-11, on Saturday to rule the 2015 Asian Under-23 Women’s Volleyball Championship at the Philsports Arena.

The Chinese fought it out in the first three sets before putting the Thais away with an easy fourth set win to seal the gold medal in the first edition of the Under-23 tournament.

China won all its seven matches, dropping just four sets including one against the Philippines in its quarterfinal match.

The title romp is a big boost for China, world champion in 2013 which looks to score back-to-back titles in the 2015 FIVB World Under-23 Championship in Ankara, Turkey.

Lin Yanhan scored 28 points, 23 on attacks and four on blocks, to lead the way for the Chinese spikers. Fang Duan added 13 points.

Chatchu-on Moksri had 17 points, while Pimpichaya Kokram had 10 for the Thais, who were cheered on by the Filipino crowd early in the match before China quieted them down with solid plays.
