JHO Maraguinot said she is open for a comeback with the Ateneo Lady Eagles in the UAAP Season 82 women’s volleyball tournament.
“Yeah, why not naman. I think, 'yung level ng volleyball ngayon, especially sa UAAP, it's different na, it's exciting,” Maraguinot told the reporters after watching the Lady Eagles’ four-set triumph over UST in the PVL Collegiate Conference semis on Sunday at the Arena in San Juan City.
“Kumbaga, for me, it's another generation e. 'Yun nga, mas bata sila, feeling ko mas enthusiastic sila maglaro and mas excited talaga sila. So, masaya naman.”
Maraguinot has been rumored to return to the Lady Eagles and play her final year after skipping the previous UAAP season, where Ateneo regained the title by beaitng University of Santo Tomas in the finals.
The elder sister of sophomore setter Jaja was also seen in pictures shared on social media working out with the Lady Eagles, although she made it clear that she has always done her weights training at the Ateneo campus.
“Siguro nakikita lang nila na kasi I do my weights sa Ateneo, minsan kasi talaga, nakakasabay ko sila so I don't train with them,” said Maraguinot.
The 5-foot-7 outside hitter said she is open for a comeback so long as she’s eligible.
“They say, I am. Pero we haven't checked, ako I haven't checked. Pero sinasabi nila na eligible ako,” she said.
A source closely monitoring the situation confirmed that the 23-year-old spiker, who last played in the UAAP in the 2018 season, is now applying for a masteral degree and still eligible for another season.
Besides Maraguinot, the source also bared that other players who haven’t played their last playing years like Jia Morado, Jamie Lavitoria, Ana Gopico, Marge Tejada and Ria Lo are still eligible for UAAP return.
