THE Army took just 68 minutes to beat PCSO Bingo Milyonaryo, 25-19, 25-15, 25-11, and book a ticket to the semifinals of the Philippine Super Liga at the PhilSports Arena on Wednesday.
Jacqueline Alarca and team captain Joanne Bunag finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively, and all the other Lady Troopers scored except for libero Angela Nunag and Ers Iratay.
"Pinaghandaan naman kasi talaga namin ito (tournament) kahit noong summer pa," said Philippine Army coach Rico de Guzman.
The Lady Troopers dominated the entire match and put up an 11 point lead, 18-7, in the third set after a 14-2 run. The Puffins' two points came from Philippine Army's two miscues.
"Hindi ko naman in-expect na three sets lang 'yung laban kanina kasi lahat naman ng team maganda ang laban," said de Guzman.
After its opening game day loss to Cagayan Valley, Philippine Army swept all of its remaining elimination-round games for a 4-1 win-loss card.
None of the PCSO players scored in double digits with Mic-Mic Laborte coming up with six points.
The Puffins are at the bottom with PLDT MyDSL at 1-4.
