TMS Philippine Army bounced back from its previous loss as it toppled Petron, 25-23, 25-14, 25-18, in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix ay Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City on Saturday.
The Lady Troopers improved to the second spot with a 3-1 win-loss card.
Thai reinforcement Luangtonglang Wanitchaya finished with 12 points for Army, while Jovelyn Gonzaga added 11.
Army outplayed the Petron as it defended the net well and scored nine blocks against five of the Blaze Spikers. The Lady Troopers were also steady from the service line with eight aces, while the blue and white squad had none.
"Nakabawi kami sa talo namin sa PLDT," said Army coach Rico de Guzman. "Nilabas namin ngayon sa karo 'yung pinractice namin. Maganda 'yung receive namin kaya kami nanalo ngayon."
Micmic Laborte finished with nine points for Petron, while Shinako Tanaka added eight.
The Blaze Spiker are tied with RC Cola at the bottom, both winless in three games.
