ARELLANO University recovered from two sets down to beat College of St. Benilde on Monday in the 88th NCAA season women’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.
Danna Henson and Angelica Legacion came up with 15 points apiece, while Menchie Tubiera added 10 including a service ace that sealed the win, 12-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19, 15-13.
The Lady Chiefs improved their win-loss record to 3-1 and tied St. Benilde and Emilio Aguinaldo College at third spot.
Rosan Fajardo and Maureen Veronas finished with 22 points respectively for CSB, while Jannie Navarro chipped in 13 markers.
San Sebastian College beat Lyceum, 25-10, 25-19, 25-20, in the other match.
Gretchen Soltones came away with 22 points, on 18 attacks and four service aces, to lead the San Sebastian belles to their fourth win in five matches.
San Sebastian came up with 14 blocks, while Lyceum registered only two.
Jhemil Abadilla made seven markers for Lyceum, which is winless in five outings and remained at the bottom of the standings.
In men's play, Lyceum defeated San Sebastian, 25-22, 15-25, 27-25, 25-27, 15-11. The Pirates improved to 3-2, while the Stags now hold a 2-3 record.
