ARELLANO University got back at elimination-round tormentor AdamsonUniversity, 25-23, 26-24, 25-14, on Wednesday close in on third place in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Jovielyn Prado led the Lady Chiefs with 18 points, while Regine Arocha added 15 and Nicole Ebuen chipped in 10.
The NCAA titleholder, whose lone loss in the five-match elimination round came at the hands of the Lady Falcons, try to close out the best-of-three series on Saturday.
“Siguro napaghandaan lang talaga namin ang Adamson, nakatulong lang ang last game namin sa kanila,” said Adamson coach Obet Javier.
“Napakalaking bagay ng next game namin sa Saturday pero siyempre expected ang Adamson babawi ‘yan. Sana ang players ko, sa pagkapanalo namin ngayon, mas lalong mamotivate sa kanila ang game para mas lalong mag-improve,” he added.
“Siguro talagang ngayong araw na ‘to mas willing kaming manalo pero syempre pinaghandaan din ng Adamson.”
Joy Dacoron scored nine for Adamson, while Chiara Permentilla and Ely Soyud added seven markers apiece.
Soyud was fielded in the first set and sat out the remainder of the match.
