LA Salle skipper Ara Galang said Ateneo deserved to win the title, but this early is already thinking of a return trip to the finals.

"They played well. Deserving naman sila. Congrats sa kanila. Pero may next year pa naman," Galang said after the Lady Spikers bowed to the Lady Eagles, who completed a season sweep and claimed back-to-back titles in UAAP women’s volleyball.

It was clear La Salle struggled without Galang, who suffered major knee injuries in a playoff with National University, but the team’s top scorer and best defender lauded her teammates for putting up a tough fight.

The Lady Spikers failed to win a set in two finals matches, but Galang said she was still pleased, noting that the squad managed to take control several times but just couldn’t hold on.

“Happy na rin ako dahil alam ko ginawa nila ‘yung best nila,” said Galang after the match.

Camille Cruz, who also stayed on the sidelines after suffering an injury in the series opener, also thought La Salle played well in tough situations.

“Nakita mo naman na hindi sila basta basta bumigay sa laban. ’Yun naman ‘yung nakakatuwa,” said Cruz, out with an ACL tear.
