ARA Galang has undergone successful knee surgery to repair torn ligaments that forced her to miss the UAAP women’s volleyball finals against champion Ateneo two weeks ago.
The La Salle spike star was discharged from Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan on Wednesday, a day after she was admitted to go under the knife for ACL, MCL, and medial meniscus injuries.
Attending orthopedic surgeon Dr. Vicente Gomez declined to comment on how the surgery went, as per directive from team managers Raffy Villavicencio and Terry Capistrano.
Hospital nurses, though, believe the operation went fine, although they saw the 20-year-old Galang still in some pain judging from her facial expression as she went out wearing her knee brace.
“Pero hindi naman pauuwiin ‘yun kung hindi okay,” said one of the nurses who assisted Galang.
Close friend and former Adamson star Bang Pineda was among the people who accompanied the La Salle skipper, who is expected to be sidelined for up to eight months.
