DE La Salle coach Ramil De Jesus said the team is in no hurry to have star player Ara Galang back in action for the UAAP Season 78 women's volleyball tournament.
De Jesus said Galang is now in her third month of therapy following a gruesome injury during the Season 77 semifinals last March 7 where she suffered damage to the ACL, MCL and medial meniscus on her knee during a game against National University.
The multi-titled La Salle coach was non-committal when asked if there is a chance for Galang to play this season, saying the team wants their star to be in top form both physically and mentally before bringing him back.
The UAAP volleyball season begins in February under the new league calendar.
At the end of the day, it will be Galang’s decision on whether she will play this season or not, De Jesus added.
The Lady Spikers recently won the gold in the Philippine National Games (PNG) without Galang and Desiree Cheng, who also suffered an ACL tear during a recent charity event.
In their absence, picking the slack for La Salle were Kim Fajardo, who won the PNG MVP plum, Mika Reyes, and Cyd Demecillo.
