WIN or lose, injured player Ara Galang said she’ll always be there for the De La Salle Lady Spikers, who are now on the verge of losing the UAAP women’s volleyball finals against defending champion Ateneo.

Even though it wasn't easy going to the Smart Araneta Coliseum in crutches, Galang made the effort to join her embattled teammates and cheered them on from the bench during Game One of the title series on Wednesday.

“Siyempre, hindi po madali (pumunta dito). Pero kailangan eh,” said Galang in a brief interview with Spin.ph on her way out of the Big Dome following the Lady Spikers’ 25-18, 25-19, 25-19 loss to the Lady Eagles.

Galang suffered tears to her ACL, MCL, and medial meniscus, and a bone bruise on her left knee late in La Salle’s four-set win over National University in their do-or-die encounter in the stepladder semifinals.

The La Salle star remains doubtful for next season, her fate depending on her recovery from reconstructive knee surgery.

Regardless of what happens, Galang said she is very much part of the team, a reason why she pushed through with joining the Lady Spikers in the series opener.

“Hindi naman ako nawala sa team. Part pa rin ako ng team. Kailangan nandito pa rin ako,” said Galang.

Proof of that was Galang huddling with her teammates at one point of the game, reason why the hashtag #CoachAraGalang’ became a trending topic on Twitter.

The loss left La Salle needing to beat Ateneo three games in a row to reclaim the championship it lost last year to the same team.

But Galang and the entire La Salle squad are not giving up.

“Hindi pa naman huli ang lahat. Marami pang chance,” she said.
