ANGEL Canino added another feather to her cap as the best outside spiker at the end of Alas Pilipinas Women's campaign in Leg 1 of the 5th SEA V.League.
Canino won her second international award of the year after winning the same nod in the 2025 AVC Nations Cup.

She previously won best opposite spiker back in last year’s AVC Challenge Cup for Women in her first competition away from her natural position.
Canino scored 16 in Alas’ four-set loss to now-eight-time champion Thailand and was sidelined for the most part in another four-set defeat to Vietnam.
The former UAAP MVP saved her best for last with a 23-piece built on 18 attacks and five blocks in a win over Indonesia that gave the Philippines its fifth SEA V.League bronze medal - and third in a row.
Joining Asia's finest
Canino was the lone Philippine player in the seven-woman winners' circle where she was joined by a veteran Thai trio and an all-star Vietnamese trio.
Ace winger Pimpichaya Kokram is the first leg MVP upon steering Thailand to the Promised Land in the absence of reigning two-time MVP Chatchu-on Moksri.
Pornpun Guedpard was named best setter, beating Alas captain Jia de Guzman for the award, with Thai icon Ajcharaporn Kongyot the other top outside hitter and Thatdao Nuekjang feted as one of two best middle blockers.
Vietnam's scoring force Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen won best opposite spiker, along with Tran Thi Bich Thuy being the other top middle blocker and Nguyen Khanh Dang hailed best libero.
All focus now shifts to the second leg of the tournament from August 8 to 10 in Ninh Bình, Vietnam.
