ADAMSON senior spiker Amanda Villanueva is someone not fond of New Year’s resolutions, but goes to 2015 filled with hope both for herself and her team.
The charming volleybelle has this early vowed to help the Lady Falcons reach the Final Four of the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament as her way to greet the year with a bang.
“Looking forward para sa team na makapasok sa Final Four and ibang plans namin will follow and to win the games,” said the Filipino-American player.
The Lady Falcons ended their 2014 campaign in the meet with a win to hike their record to 3-2, good for third place behind unbeaten rivals La Salle and Ateneo.
As for her personal goal, Villanueva said she remains uncertain whether to join the Philippine Super Liga for players who are already ineligible to play in college, or to apply for a job as a flight attendant.
“Sa school naman, looking forward ako sa graduation,” said the BS Psychology student.
“Hindi ko pa sure kung mag-a-apply ako sa PSL kasi focused pa ako sa UAAP ngayon. Gusto ko mag-flight attendant, and I’m still hoping na makapasa with my height,” said Villanueva, who stands 5-foot-3.
Villanueva said she doesn’t consider her two major goals as New Year’s resolutions, stressing she does not need any.
She’s not being a Grinch about the occasion, but for her change can come anytime as long as it comes from the heart.
“Hindi naman sa hindi ako naniniwala sa New Year’s resolution pero kasi it’s not about sa kung nag-end or nag-start ‘yung year. It’s about change kasi,” said Villanueva.
“Sabi nila kasi bagong taon, bagong buhay. Ako hindi, you can change whenever you want, whenever your heart desires. I can change anytime.”
Villanueva and the Lady Falcons return to action on January 5 against University of the Philippines.
