ALYSSA Valdez has received offers from abroad, including Thailand and Australia, and the three-time UAAP Most Valuable Player is also playing at home leagues her decorated college officially closed on Saturday.

Valdez’s UAAP career came to an end when Ateneo bowed to La Salle in four sets, 19-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-16, at the close of the Season 78 finals series. The loss put an end to Valdez’s collegiate career that included three UAAP Most Valuable Player plums for the Lady Eagles.

There are reports that Valdez has offers to play not only in the Philippine Super Liga but also abroad, and Valdez said he is open to both options.

    “Open to both,” said Valdez.

Ateneo official Ricky Palou confirmed that the Ateneo volleyball superstar has received offers to play abroad, and there are reports Philippine Superliga teams are aching to have her services.

“May mga nag-iimbita sa kanya abroad. Thailand, Australia. Tignan natin,” said Palou.

Valdez, however, hinted that a press conference is scheduled next month, possibly May 4 on what the future holds for the Queen Eagle.

“Let’s talk about it later. May 4 meron kaming press con,” said Valdez.

Tears fell following the four-set loss, with La Salle’s Kim Fajardo, Valdez’s former teammate at University of Santo Tomas, consoled her. Valdez also bid goodbye to the fans by circling around the court.

Valdez accepted the loss, saying defeat is part of life.

“It will open naman another window and another challenges. I guess this is one of the best challenges na na-encounter ko. With this siguro, I think God is preparing me for bigger challenges in real life situations. It’s not the end,” said Valdez.
