ALYSSA Valdez is going to miss the women’s national volleyball pool camp in Thailand due to an ankle injury.
The official Instagram page of Rebisco Pilipinas Volleyball Team announced the bad news on Friday night, saying Valdez is nursing an ankle injury that will keep him out of the team's overseas training for the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
“Let’s give our love and all-out support to our Phenom Alyssa Valdez who injured her ankle. Because of this, she won’t be able to train in Thailand,” Rebisco Sambansa posted.
Valdez, Creamline teammate Jia Morado and fellow Premier Volleyball League players Maddie Madayag, Jovelyn Gonzaga and Eya Laure were set to leave on Sunday to catch up with the training camp.
A source closely monitoring the situation confirmed to Spin.ph that Valdez sustained an ankle injury a few days before her flight but declined to give any details.
Rebisco stressed that Valdez needs to undergo physical therapy. Spin.ph is still trying to reach Valdez and Creamline team officials at posting time.
With Valdez out, national team coach Shaq Delos Santos will be banking on Aby Maraño, Kalei Mau, Alohi Robins-Hardy, Majoy Baron, Roselyn Doria, Kalei Mau, Ces Molina, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Mylene Paat, Dawn Macandili and Kath Arado as well as Morado, Gonzaga, Madayag and Laure in the upcoming Southeast Asian Grand Prix.
