TWICE MVP in the UAAP and recipient of various other top individual awards including best player titles in commercial leagues, Alyssa Valdez had a chance to honor her coaches and other mentors on Saturday when she received the award as one of Spin.ph’s Sports Heroes of 2015.
For giving her all during matches for school, club, and country, in the process helping volleyball make its mark again in basketball-mad Philippines, Valdez was given the Spin.ph award for Sportsmen Who Change The Game during the night for sports heroes at the Ceremonial Hall of the Marriott Hotel.
Valdez thanked volley mentors Roger Gorayeb and Tai Bundit, her former high school coach Kungfu Reyes and made special mention of her “first coach,” her mother Lita, who was with her at the Ceremonial Hall.
