ALYSSA Valdez chose to dwell on the positives after Creamline lost to BaliPure, 25-18, 25-13, 25-16, in their semifinal match on Thursday at the PhilSports Arena.

The former UAAP MVP out of Ateneo said the experience the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) debutant gained in this tournament will go a long way, especially its young players.

"We fell short talaga in this game, but still I think it's a good experience for everyone also, playing in just ilang months pa lang naman together," Valdez said.

"So we're just really happy siguro and still thankful for everything that happened and what's gonna happen for Creamline," she added.

Overall, the Creamline superstar said the team did a fine job in its maiden conference against seasoned teams and top-caliber players.

"We wanna think that way talaga kasi as a new team, mahirap talaga kalabanin yung mga core na team, and very consistent na team like Bali Pure, Pocari, Power Smashers, Perlas, lalo na Perlas and Air Force, 'di ba," she said.

"But it's human nature, ang nature ng athlete siyempre magiging competitive ka, and you're just really gonna push yourself and be competitive rin talaga, and tell yourself na that's not enough, you really have to fight and you really have to still push yourself."

But their season's not over as they are set to face either Pocari or Power Smashers in the battle for third place.

Expect the Cool Smashers to carry a positive mindset heading into that match, said Valdez.

"Yun naman din yung sabi, we have to have a good mindset coming into the battle for third din kasi kailangan pagpasok namin, alam din namin kung ano ang lalabanan namin," she said.
