CREAMLINE edged Pocari Sweat, 25-15, 17-25, 25-19, 25-19, on Saturday to move to the top of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at Filoil Flying V Centre.
Alyssa Valdez showed the way for the Cool Smashers with 30 points with 27 attacks, while Pau Soriano fired 15 including one in the final stretch where the team b.roke free from a deadlock at 17.
Creamline claimed solo lead with a 4-0 win-loss record.
It was a much-needed boost for the Cool Smashers before Valdez leaves for Japan with the national team to train for the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur.
Creamline assistant coach Oliver Almadro said Valdez is expected to miss two to three matches.
"I guess yung mindset ng players is really to win kasi baka next games mawala na si Alyssa. Teamwork talaga," said Creamline assistant coach Oliver Almadro.
"Laking bagay na everybody did their job. Nakinig sila sa instruciton ni (head) coach Tai (Bundit)."
Mya Pablo topscored for Pocari Sweat with 26 points but a couple of errors in the end game proved to be costly and the Lady Warriors absorbed their first loss in four matches.
Jeanette Panaga added 11 markers for the Lady Warriors.
