Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado not joining national team in PSL stint due to 'conflict in schedule'

    Jun 20, 2018

CREAMLINE stars Alyssa Valdez and Jia Morado failed to get the green light to suit up for the national volleyball team that will see action in the Philippine Super Liga Invitational Conference.

Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. vice president Peter Cayco confirmed the news on Wednesday that Rebisco, Creamline’s mother company, did not allow Valdez and Morado to play in the national team's stint in a rival league.

Creamline competes in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

“Kanina ko natanggap letter from Rebisco. LVPI is saddened by this but at the same time (the federation) respect the decision of Creamline,” said Cayco.

Valdez and Morado’s Creamline team has earned an outright semis spot in the ongoing PVL Reinforced Conference and its schedule will likely run in conflict with the national team's stint in the PSL.

The former Ateneo stars were supposed to join Aby Maraño, Jaja Santiago, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Ces Molina, Mika Reyes, Kim Fajardo, Kim Dy, Cha Cruz-Behag, Majoy Baron, Dawn Macandili, Rhea Dimaculangan, Denden Lazaro, Mylene Paat, CJ Rosario, Maika Ortiz, Myla Pablo, Rebecca Rivera and, MJ Phillips in the national team in the PSL.

The 20-woman pool will face defending champion Cignal on June 28, followed by Sta. Lucia on June 30, F2 Logistics on July 7, Cocolife on July 10, Petron on July 12, Foton on July 14, Generika-Ayala on July 24 and Smart on July 26.

“I have informed the coaching staff that Valdez and Morado would not be available so they can make the necessary adjustments,” said Cayco.
