ILOCOS SUR — She did not mention specific schools, this time, but Alleiah Malaluan said coaches and team representatives continue to talk to her family about a possible transfer to the big leagues.

University of Sto. Tomas and National University are among the teams that approached Malaluan’s family two years ago when she was 13 during the Palarong Pambansa in Legazpi, and this summer in Ilocos Sur the scouts remain focused on her.

“Sina Mommy po ‘yung kinakausap,” said Malaluan.

Malaluan, now 5 feet 10 inches tall, said she is now used to the attention. But from the looks of it the decision won’t come anytime soon, as she said she is more focused on working on her game than on the possibility of moving.

“Sobrang thankful ako. Medyo sanay na po kasi ilang years na po ito nangyari,” said Malaluan.

The De La Salle Lipa standout was named Best Outside Hitter of the 2018 Palarong Pambansa girls volleyball, even as Calabarzon lost to National Capital Region, 12-25, 25-12, 25-18, 17-25, 15-12, in the gold medal match at the Barangay Poblacion Gym in Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur.

Still, Malaluan is pleased to reach the finals despite being dethroned as the champions after winning last year’s final in Antique.

“Sayang pero at least, nakakuha naman kami ng silver,” said Malaluan.
