THE promise of massive organizational reform within the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) is here.
In a sweeping overhaul aimed at completely ridding the national program of scheduling conflicts and roster issues during major international campaigns, the PNVF has officially rolled out a major changes to its organizational structure.
PNVF president Frank Lao revealed that they have completely restructured the federation to promote a truly harmonious working relationship with all major local volleyball stakeholders.
To ensure absolute alignment and seamless national team identification, Lao granted national team commission board seats to top representatives from the UAAP, NCAA, Premier Volleyball League (PVL), and the Shakey's V-League.

"We're restructuring the PNVF. What we did was we gave board seats to the different leagues then part sila ng decision making ng national team, with me as the chairman," Lao explained, revealing that he will also step in to personally chair the crucial National Team Commission.
As part of this aggressive restructuring, the federation has already formally written to the PVL to synch its domestic calendar with the strict schedule of upcoming FIVB tournaments.
Following these boardroom moves at the top, PNVF executive director Atty. Miguel Carlos Pacifico Suarez officially announced that major changes are also looming for both the Alas Pilipinas Men's and Women's indoor volleyball squads.
Conversely, Suarez confirmed that the national beach volleyball squads will remain completely intact following their highly successful and productive campaign at the recent 20th Asian Games in Nagoya.

The PNVF also announced a complete revamp of its coaching staff, highlighted by the return of Dante Alinsunurin as coach of Alas Pilipinas Men replacing Italian Angiolino Frigoni who was tasked to handle the Alas Pilipinas Women squad in an interim capacity.
The PNVF also gave bigger roles to Creamline team coordinator Ma. Carlota Celda and volleyball commentator Jaime Ascalon.
Celda will replace Ronwald Kris Dimaculangan as team manager of the Alas Men while Ascalon will be stepping in for Hollie Reyes as team manager of Alas Women.
Among those being considered to be part of the Athletes Commission are Alyssa Valdez, Dawn Macandili-Catindig, Ysay Marasigan, Ran Abdilla, Julia Coronel, Rex Intal, Majoy Baron, Jia Morado-de Guzman, Jessie Lopez and Len Escollante, who was part of the national squad that won a gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in 1993.
Former Cignal team manager Juanito Gregorio will now serve as Deputy Executive Director to assist Suarez.
According to PNVF vice-president Don Kapunan, these sweeping reforms were already in the pipeline long before the national team's recent Asian Games struggles were dragged into the open in Nagoya.
These internal clean-ups align perfectly with reports that the FIVB has granted a temporary reinstatement to the PNVF as the country's official volleyball federation.
The PNVF has already submitted its rigorous governance check to the world governing body, rolling out an ambitious 8-point agenda that features a strict policy on conflict of interest and the establishment of an Athletes Commission.
