ALAS Pilipinas Women will face Chinese Taipei in the 2025 AVC Women’s Volleyball Nations Cup semifinals on Friday.
Following its 25-16, 25-20, 22-25, 25-17 pool play finale win over India, Chinese Taipei clinched the No. 2 seed in Pool A at 3-1 (win-loss) and a Final Four meeting against Poob B topnotcher Philippines.
READ Alas Pilipinas advances to AVC Nations Cup semifinals
Alas’ semis opponent took down Australia and Hong Kong in straight sets, beat India in four sets and got swept by two-time defending champion Vietnam.
This set up a grudge match with the Philippines, which beat Chinese Taipei in straight sets, 25-13, 25-21, 25-18, on the way to four-game sweep of Pool A in the Challenge Cup.
Holdover wingers Eya Laure and Vanie Gandler were the leaders of the pack for the nationals in that game with 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Over on the opposite bracket this year, Vietnam already has the top seed locked up even before it closes out Pool A action against Australia on Thursday night.
The Vietnamese side’s maximum set ratio after three matches is enough to keep hold of the top seed even if it suffers an unlikely defeat to the Aussies.
As such, Vietnam and Kazakhstan will relive last year’s Challenge Cup gold-medal match in this year’s knockout semifinals.
May it be in the finals or the battle for third, Alas will either be locking horns with one-two Vietnamese punch of Tranh Thi Tanh Thuy (T4) and Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen or the vengeful Kazakhs on the final day.
