A tragic road accident has claimed the life of Alas Pilipinas Men pool member Ike Andrew Barilea.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo Bacolod on Wednesday morning, Police Lt. Mansueto De Jose Jr., deputy chief of the Cadiz City Component Police Station in Negros Occidental, narrated the official report on Barilea’s passing.
WATCH:
The 21-year-old was hit by a Ceres Liner bus while driving his Yamaha Sniper 150 motorcycle along the National Highway in Villena Street, Cadiz City, at around 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11.
According to Lt. De Jose Jr., the bus driver allegedly 'miscalculated' his path even as Barilea was signaling left through his motorcycle’s blinkers.
The impact caused Barilea’s motorcycle to be pinned underneath the bus.

The bus driver, identified as Rolan Corsonada, 44, a resident of Barangay Singcang Airport in Bacolod City, is now under police custody.
Barilea suffered multiple injuries and was rushed to the Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital, where he was still breathing upon arrival, but later passed away at around 5 p.m.

Both the bus company and local police are conducting investigations into the incident, with no settlement reached between the Barilea family and the driver as of posting time.
Barilea, who celebrated his 21st birthday just two days before his passing, was part of the initial 21-player pool for the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
He also suited up for Alas Pilipinas-Cignal in his lone national team stint at the 2025 AVC Men’s Volleyball Champions League in Japan last May.
Keying his national team breakthrough was his bronze-medal campaign with 1 Silay Volleyball Club at the 2025 PNVF U21 National Finals.
