Airess Padda laments Adamson's 'worst performance,' feels Lady Falcons simply gave up

JUST when everyone thought things can't get any worse for Adamson, the Lady Falcons hit a new low with an uninspired performance against University of Santo Tomas on Saturday.

The Lady Falcons absorbed yet another rout, this time at the hands of the University of Santo Tomas Lady Tigresses, 25-13, 25-12, 25-9 for their sixth straight loss at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The performance was so bad that head coach Airess Padda described it as their 'worst' of the season. Considering how badly they've fared since Day One, that was quite a statement.

"I think probably this was our worst performance," said the American coach.

The Lady Falcons couldn't seem to do anything right on this day. Reception was so bad the Tigresses had 14 aces. Their offense wasn't much better as they made just 19 points, with UST's errors keeping the scores closer than what it should have been.

"It’s a choice when you are in a match to fight and compete and give it your best," Padda said. "It may not be good enough and you might still lose, but to walk away knowing you give your best is important.

"But they'd rather take the easy route and just give up," the outspoken coach added.

While there are many issues that needs to be addressed, the first order of business for Padda now is to find help for Jema Galanza, who has been the lone bright spot for the Lady Falcons this season.

With the way things are going, that looks easier said than done.

"I think at this point the girls have not understood what teamwork is about and I think that it’s been evident that the person that has been carrying us offensively and defensively is Jema," Padda said.

"This week has been really about encouraging the other girls to step up because there’s no 'I' in team, it’s not just about one person. They definitely didn’t do that today and I think their will to win is not strong enough."
