PHILIPPINE Air Force shot down Instituto Estetico Manila, 25-19, 25-19, 17-25, 25-22, to claim the final semifinal berth in the Premier Volleyball League on Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
With a 2-0 record in the quarterfinals, the Jet Spikers joined Cignal, Vice Co, and PLDT in the Final Four with a game to spare in the round-robin Round of Eight.
Air Force will be taking on PLDT on Saturday in a battle between unbeaten teams.
Tied at 22 in the fourth set, Air Force turned on the heat with Fauzi Ismail dropping back-to-back points before an error from IEM skipper Gregorio Dolor's error wrapped things up for the Spikers.
"Yung mga players, naging kompyansa, kung bibilangin mo sa errors, eight service errors kami and six offense errors," said head coach Hovyl Verayo.
Ismail led the Spikers with 16 points from 11 attacks, while Bryan Bagunas had a grand debut in an Air Force uniform with 15 markers, spiked by four blocks alongside seven receptions.
Dolor led the way for Volleymasters with 22 points, but that didn't stop the squad from dropping out of contention with a 0-2 slate.
