ADAMSON University dominated University of Santo Tomas, 25-21, 25-18, 25-18, in the 76th UAAP women's volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan on Wednesday.
Bhebs Pineda came up with 13 points, while Amanda Villanueva and Mayeth Zapanta had 11 and 10 markers, respectively for Adamson.
The Lady Falcons had an easy job getting past the Tigresses, needing only an hour and 25 minutes to finish the match, which was a huge surprise to Adamson coach Sherwin Meneses.
"Hindi ko in-expect na three sets lang," he said. "Kasi 'yung UST kumpleto sila ngayon. Pero maganda naman ang ginawa namin dahil sa errors nila at nag double time talaga kami."
UST was sluggish all throughout the match as it gave away 28 points to Adamson through errors.
Down by one, 3-4, the Lady Falcons scored six straight points in the third for a 9-4 lead.
The Tigresses trimmed the deficit, 9-13, but the San Marcelino-based squad used a 5-1 spurt to widen the gap, 18-10, en route to victory.
Pam Lastimosa made 12 points for UST, while Ria Meneses added eight.
The Lady Falcons and Tigresses are now tied with Far Eastern University for the fourth spot at 2-2.
