Adamson, Letran test provincial V-League sides

    Apr 8, 2013

ADAMSON and Letran test the mettle of two provincial heavyweights on Tuesday in the 10th Shakey's V-League at The Arena in San Juan.

The two-time defending champions Lady Falcons square off with the Visayas-based University of San Carlos at 4p.m. after the Lady Knights open their campaign against Cavite-based De La Salle-Dasmariñas two hours earlier.

Adamson, which is expected to be powered by the tandem of Pau Soriano and Bhebs Pineda as well as former star and now guest player Angela Benting, is coming in as the favorites in the encounter with the V-League rookies.

But the Lady Falcons must not underestimate the Lady Warriors, who are the reigning champions in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi), the premier collegiate league down South.

La Salle-Dasmarinas is also a V-League newcomer, but the Lady Patriots are expected to give the Lady Knights a run for their money considering they are the defending National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) titlists.

Letran parades its guest players in Melissa Ogana and Thai player Patcharee Sangmuang, while the Lady Patriots will be reinforced by Jhen Manzano and former La Salle-Taft setter Chie Saet.

The Lady Patriots and the Lady Knights are in Group A with San Sebastian and back-to-back champion Ateneo, which posted a 25-23, 25-23, 25-20 decision of University of Santo Tomas in the season opener last Sunday.

On the other hand, San Carlos and Adamson are bunched with back-to-back NCAA titlist University of Perpetual Help, National University (1-0), and Arellano University (0-1) in Group B.
