ADAMSON University snapped a two-match losing run, defeating University of the East, 19-25, 25-11, 16-25, 25-16, 15-12 in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
Skipper Jema Galanza had 22 points, 22 digs and 11 excellent receptions for the Lady Falcons, who improved to 4-5 at fifth spot.
Mylene Paat scored 18, while Eli Soyud added 11 and Joy Dacoron contributed 10 for the Lady Falcons in the two-hour and nine-minute match.
Adamson was without spiker Chiara Permentilla, out for at least two matches after sustaining a left ankle sprain in during training on Tuesday.
“When things are falling apart, maybe it's for us, so that we can fall into place,” said Adamson coach Air Padda.
“And we knew today, coming into this game, that UE has the confidence. I'm pretty sure that they expected to beat us. I just told them, it's not gonna be easy,” she added.
“But I thought the team did a good job fighting, especially in the fifth set, not letting UE go on point runs and keeping the lead.”
Mary Ann Mendrez scored 17 for UE, while Shaya Adorador had 12 points and Judith Abil added 10 as the Lady Warriors, coming off two straight wins, slid to 2-7.
