ADAMSON University made short work of Arellano with a straight sets victory Sunday to clinch a quarterfinals berth in the 10th Shakey’s V-League First Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Falcons won it on scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-21.
Guest player Angela Benting came away with 18 points for the Lady Falcons, who booked their second win in three outings.
Adamson is now in second place in Group B behind the perfect 3-0 record of National University.
Coach Sherwin Meneses praised heap on his star player, who clinched the win for the Lady Falcons after denying an Elaine Sagun hit
"Si Angela all out naman siya every game," said Meneses. "May depensa at may opensa."
The Adamson coach, however, did not expect to finish the match in three set, especially
with veteran guest players Mary Jean Balse and Nene Bautista playing for the Lady Chiefs.
"Hindi ko in-expect na (three sets) kasi andoon yung dalawang guest players na malalakas sina Nene at Balse. Nag-prepare talaga kami para sa kanila," he said.
Balse came away with 15 markers, while Bautista finished with 11 for Arellano, which evened its record at 2-2.
