ADAMSON University libero Jellie Tempiatura was cleared from any serious injury after hurting her ankle on Saturday in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference semifinals, according to head coach Air Padda.
The AdU defense specialist twisted her right ankle while attempting to save the ball late in the fourth set against Far Eastern University in Game Two of the best-of-three semis at The Arena in San Juan.
Tempiatura was carried off by Padda out of the playing court and never returned to the match, which the Lady Falcons eventually lost, 25-21, 25-27, 20-25, 25-23, 11-15.
“No she doesn’t need to go to the hospital. It was just a light ankle sprain,” said Padda.
It was a relief for Adamson, which lost its top hitter Jema Galanza due to a dislocated right ankle during a match against College of St. Benilde on September 25.
Meanwhile, Tempiatura was the fifth player in the conference who got injured.
First was Ateneo hitter Kim Gequillana, who sustained an ACL injury after an awkward landing against FEU on September 9.
National University spiker Princess Robles sustained a left ankle sprain after a hard fall during a game against San Sebastian College just two days after Gequillana’s injury.
Galanza’s gruesome injury happened exactly two weeks after Robles’ injury followed by University of the Philippines spiker Justine Dorog, who aggravated a recurring jumper’s knee injury in their match against Arellano University on September 30.
