PH women's volleyball team to go on 'social media diet' while training in Japan

    Jul 14, 2017

AFTER letting out her emotions on Twitter the past week, Aby Marano is preparing for a ‘social media diet’ as the national team trains in Japan from July 17 to August 2.

The F2 Logistics star, who has grown tired of the bashing from fans, shared that she’s looking forward to going abroad and training with the entire team away while shunning away the distractions online.

Marano along with team captain Mika Reyes, Alyssa Valdez, Jaja Santiago, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Denden Lazaro, Kim Fajardo, Rhea Dimaculangan, Maika Ortiz, Gen Casugod, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Ces Molina, Kim Dy and Dawn Macandili will have a busy schedule in training.

“Ang mindset ko ngayon, bahala na kayo dyan basta nakapagsalita na ako, naibigay ko na ang side naming players,” she said during the send-off on Friday at Arellano Gym in Taft Avenue.

“So itong pagpunta namin sa Japan naka-focus na kami, social media diet na kami,” she added.

The team will have twice-a-day three-hour practice with tune-up games against premier Japanese club teams Okayama Seagulls and Osaka Superiors and top college squads Ryukoku University, Kobe Shinwa Women’s University and Osaka University of HSS.

But it’s not all work for the national team as there will be a two-day break to recover and relax.

Still, Marano believes that they should use that time to bond and work on their chemistry.

“Magba-bonding kami, walang cellphone, mas makakabuti na makapag-focus kami sa training namin,” she said. “Hindi kami magbabasa ng mga kung anu-anong praises and bashing from the fans para walang distraction.”

“Half of the year kami ang magkakasama sa national team so kailangan natin magkaroon ng magandang communication,” she added.
