F2 Logistics star Aby Maraño wants to use her new role as Philippine Super Liga ambassadress to empower aspiring athletes.
The former La Salle stalwart, though, admitted that she did not expect to be the new face of the PSL, following the footsteps of Gretchen Ho, Cha Cruz and Mika Reyes.
While she’s not as soft-spoken as previous ambassadresses, Maraño is up for the challenge and ready to give her role a feisty voice.
“Personality ko po vocal ako, kung ano ang sa tingin kong tama na may katwiran ako, magsasalita ako for the team,” she said.
“If PSL is at stake, no doubt na magsasalita din ako for PSL kung alam kong tama ang pinanggagalingan ko,” she added.
Maraño felt that she was chosen as the new ambassadress after she defended the league on social media in several instances.
“There was a time kasi na nakipagsagutan ako sa mga fans na parang out of the line na, kinailangan ko nang magsalita,” she said.
She also sees her new role as a responsibility to inspire future volleyball players and even the youth to reach for their dreams regardless of the distractions and the detractors.
“It’s another step for me to influence the youth and aspiring athletes na to play at their best kasi with the way, I play I want to inspire them,” said Maraño.
“I want to serve as a model to them na sa volleyball, madaming fans, madami ding detractors, so parang gusto kong mapakita sa kanila na ang pagiging strong mo kakayanin mo,” she added.
PSL Grand Prix will start on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
