FOUR teams, two semifinals slots.
Petron, Bingo Milyonaryo, Cagayan Valley, and PLDT-MyDSL put everything on the line Sunday as they clash in a pair of do-or-die encounter in the quarterfinals of the Philippine Super Liga (PSL) women’s volleyball tournament at the Philsports Arena.
With former Ateneo aces leading its charge, third seed Petron renews its rivalry with a familiar foe in sixth seed Bingo Milyonaryo, a team backstopped by former La Salle players, in the first game at 2 pm.
Erstwhile leader Cagayan Valley also tries to regain its status when it clashes with fifth seed PLDT-MyDSL at 4 pm.
After winning their first three games, the Rising Suns suddenly lost steam and closed the classification stage with back-to-back losses to Cignal and Petron, propelling the HD Spikers to one of the two outright semis berths.
Joining Cignal in the semifinals is TMS-Philippine Army, which dropped its opening-day game to Cagayan Valley, but swept its next four assignments to steal the thunder away from the Rising Suns.
The Lady Troopers will face the survivor of the Cagayan Valley-PLDT-MyDSL tiff, while the HD Spikers will tackle the winner between Petron and Bingo Milyonaryo in the semifinals at the SM Mall of Asia Arena next week.
