TIM Reed again came up with a strong finish to rule the Ironman 70.3 Subic on Sunday.
The Australian claimed the Subic title anew after the 2015 triumph and made it five titles in the same distance here in the Philippines. The three-time world champion won three 70.3 races in Cebu, aside from a 5150 triumph in Bohol.
Home bet August Benedicto topped the Asian Elite crown in 4:44:04. Lenard Rondina placed second with a time of 4:50:45 followed by Banjo Norte in 4:52:51.
The 34-year-old Reed clocked four hours, four minutes and 33 seconds in the 1.9-kilometer swim, 90km bike and 21km run event, well ahead of Tim Van Berkel (4:08:36.0), also from Australia.
Seychelles’ Nicholas Baldwin, winner of the Ironman last year in Subic, settled for third in 4:09:06.
Switzerland’s Caroline Steffen clocked 4:29:14 to rule the women’s side and add to titles won in the 2017 Subic and Davao 70.3 races.
Dimity Lee Duke of Australia was second in 4:42:58 followed by Laura Wood 4:46:22 of New Zealand.
