MARKUS Rolli took the early lead and hold on to win the Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao at Azuela Cove in three hours, 49 minutes and 29 seconds on Sunday.
The German triathlete finished the 1.9-kilometer swim in 23:22 and clocked 2:00:50 in the 90K bike before a 1:22.19 in the 21k run.
Rolli, who turned pro only two years ago, adds the Davao 70.3 title to the crown he won in 2017 in Thailand over the same distance.
Five-time world champion Craig Alexander bagged second place in 3:52:21 followed by Tim Van Berkel, also of Australia.
Radka Kahlefeldt of the Czech Republic won the women’s race, clocking 4:16:52.
Switzerland’s Caroline Steffen finished in 4:19:28 for second place, while Kirralee Seidel of Australia wound up third in 4:28:37.
