IT will be a family affair of sorts as the Guidicellis lead the Ford Forza Triathlon team that will compete in the Ironman 70.3 next month.
Actor Matteo Guidicelli will team up with his father Gianluca as well as siblings Giorgia and Gianpaolo for the Ford Philippines-backed squad that hopes to have a stong finish in the Cebu race on August 6.
The Guidicelli partriarch is confident that the team, whose diverse mix of members range from 10 to 50 years old, will do well in one of the biggest triathlon races in Asia especially with their dedication to train.
"I'm sure we are going to give a good show come August," said Gianluca during the team's sendoff at the Ascott Makati on Friday.
"We do it because we like to do it. We train every day, 365 days a year."
The actor-triathlete agreed with his father, adding that they aim not just to compete well but to inspire aspiring triathletes of all ages.
"We have two more weeks to go. It’s not like other teams na puro professional athletes. It's a mix of different people. We want to showcase na everybody can do it," he said.
But triathlete who also dabbles in movies and teleseryes made it clear that they are out to win as well in the 51-country tournament.
"Basically it's a family bond. But we wanna win also," he said.
Other members are actor Ivan Carapiet, TV host Dyan Castillejo, cancer survivor Joey Torres, and 2013 Pinoy Biggest Losers participants and brothers Ralph and Yves Du.
