Featuring innovative upgrades in the swim leg and an exciting bike course along CCLEX, the IRONMAN 70.3 Lapu-Lapu is set to kick off with high energy on Sunday, April 21 in Mactan, Cebu.

Meanwhile, young talents in Philippine triathlon will go head-to-head in the IRONKIDS event, commencing on Saturday at The Reef Island Resort.

The aquathlon, drawing 254 participants aged 6 to 15, aims to promote an active lifestyle among youth. Competitors will compete in various age-group categories, ranging from 6-8 to 13-15 years old, in individual and mixed relay divisions.

    Innovating this year, the swim leg will feature color-coded buoys for better navigation, ensuring a seamless experience for athletes. The bike route, including the 8.9km CCLEX bridge, offers a challenging yet exhilarating course, reminiscent of the 2022 event. The final run stage promises a lively atmosphere as triathletes sprint to the finish line.

    Despite intense competition, organizers prioritize athlete experience and provide new challenges, maintaining the event's prestige.

    The endurance race, starting and finishing at the Mactan Newtown in Lapu-Lapu City, will see participation from elite professionals and nearly 1,400 athletes across age categories.

    With the return of elite pros and updated race conditions, record-breaking times are anticipated. The event features a relay category, promotes female participation, and offers 45 age-group qualifying slots for the World Championship in New Zealand.

    Highlighted by renowned athletes such as Daniel Bakkegard and Anne Reischmann, the event promises excitement on both the men's and women's sides.

    Furthermore, the IRONMAN 70.3 Lapu-Lapu is integrated into The IRONMAN Group’s Season Pass and Flex90 offerings, enhancing athletes’ participation flexibility across Oceania and Asia.

    Top contenders include Steven Mckenna, Tuan Chun Chang, Henri Schoeman, Els Vissner, and Dimity Lee Duke, among others.
