WTA 250 Manila Open officially part of Asian swing

MANILA is set to stage its biggest tennis tournament in 2027.

The WTA formalized the inclusion of the newest WTA 250 event with the Manila Open scheduled from November 1 to 7 next year.

The organizing body released its 2027 schedule on Sunday and included the newest tourney as part of its Asian Swing.

That stretch will start in Singapore for a WTA 500 event and in WTA 250 Seoul both starting in September 20, followed by WTA 1000 Beijing (Sept. 29), WTA 1000 Wuhan (Oct. 11), WTA 500 Ningbo and WTA 250 Osaka (Oct. 18), WTA 500 Tokyo and WTA 250 Guangzhou (Oct. 25), and WTA 250 Hong Kong (Nov. 1).

The Manila staging will be the last event of the Tour before the WTA Finals in Charlotte from November 10 to 14.

The Philippine Tennis Association (PHILTA) has previously announced the development, with the upcoming WTA 250 event being a three-year commitment.

On top of that, the second staging of the Philippine Women's Open, a WTA 125 event, will be held in January.

World no. 18 Alex Eala is expected to be heavily featured in the Philippine events especially with her surging popularity not just in the country but overseas.
