THIRD seed Agnieszka Radwanska overcame Maria Kirilenko, 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, to advance to her first Grand Slam semifinal.
The score was tied at 4-4 on Wednesday (Manila time) in the third when the match had to be moved to Centre Court because of rain. It was the fifth match of the day to be completed on Centre Court.
Lisicki had a chance to seal her place in the semis when she served for the match at 5-3, but Kerber broke serve and won the next three games to complete the comeback.
Radwanska faces Angelique Kerber in the last four, after the German eighth seed disposed of compatriot Sabine Lisicki, 6-3, 6-7 (7), 7-5, at the All England Club.
Second-ranked Victoria Azarenka and four-time champion Serena Williams face off in the other semifinal.
Azarenka downed Tamira Paszek of Austria, 6-3, 7-6 (4), in another match that had to be moved from Court 1 to Centre Court because rain delays.
The Belarusian No. 2 Azarenka takes over the No. 1 ranking from Maria Sharapova if she reaches the final. Azarenka was set to close out the match at 5-4 when she was broken by the unseeded Paszek. The Australian Open champion broke right back but again dropped serve and was dragged by Paszek into a tiebreaker.
Williams, meanwhile, sent defending champion Petra Kvitova packing, 6-3, 7-5.
In the men’s quarterfinals it’s No. 1 Novak Djokovic of Serbia against No. 31 Florian Mayer of Germany, Swiss third seed Roger Federer versus No. 26 Mikhail Youzhny of Russia, local bet and No. 4 seed Andy Murray opposite seventh-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer and fifth-seeded Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga against No. 27 Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany.
