TREAT Huey of the Philippines and Max Mirnyi of Belarus hurdled the first round of the Australian Open men’s doubles with a 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 win over Aliaksandr Bury of Belarus and Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan on Tuesday in Melbourne.
Huey and Mirnyi, seeded No. 14 in the tournament, had a 12-10 tiebreak in the third set of the match that lasted one hour and 51 minutes.
Huey and Mirnyi will take on the Brazilian pair of Thomaz Bellucci and Marcelo Demoliner, who beat Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico and Julian Knowle of Austria, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
