FIL-Am Treat Huey and Slovenian partner Andreja Klepac's dream run in the Australian Open mixed doubles tournament ended on Friday with a 6-4, 6-4 loss to American Coco Vandeweghe and Romanian Horia Tecau in their semifinal matchup at Melbourne Park.

Vandeweghe and Tecau were too much to overcome for the pair of Huey and Klepac as they reached the finals where they will face either top-seed Sania Mirza of India and Ivan Dodig of Croatia or fifth-ranked Elena Vesnina of Russia and Bruno Soares of Brazil.

Despite the loss, Huey’s semifinal finish in the mixed doubles event is already his best achievement at Melbourne Park, surpassing his quarterfinal stint in the men’s doubles in 2014 and 2015.

Huey, ranked 34 in the world in doubles play, also reached the quarterfinals with Belarusian partner Max Mirnyi in the men's doubles before they bowed to Daniel Nestor of Canada and Radek Stepanek of Czech Republic, 6-4, 6-4.
