Turkey's Ipek Soylu, the girls singles top seed, comes up with a straight sets win to reach the third round. 

TOP seed Ipek Soylu of Turkey downed local bet Maika Jae Tanpoco 6-3, 6-1 on Wednesday to ease into the girls singles third round of the 24th Mitsubishi-Lancer International Junior Championships at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Seventh seed Kamonwan Buayam of Thailand routed Ayano Sonoda of Japan 6-1, 6-3, Serbian third seed Nina Stojanovic downed Thai Tamachan Momkoonthod, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, No. 12 Katrine Isabel Steffensen of USA bested Vasilisa Aponasenko 6-3, 7-6 (1), and 13th seed Katie Boulter of Great Britain turned back Cassandra Vasquez of Mexico 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

In boys’ action, Alexandre Muller of France recovered from a sluggish start to turn back ninth seed Jurence Mendoza 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, while No. 14 Duck Hee Lee of Korea edged NCAA juniors MVP Alberto Lim 7-6 (5), 7-6 in the second round.

"I think in the first set he (Mendoza) played good and me in my head I'm not very ready for this match," said the 16-year old Muller.

In other matches, Japanese Takashi Saito dominated Thai Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul, 6-0, 6-1, Australian Omar Jasika downed Vietnamese Thien Nguyen Hoang 6-3, 6-1, Akira Santillan of Australia defeated Evan Hoyt of Great Britain 6-2, 7-6 (0), Jonny O'Hara of Great Britain beat Adrian Bodmer of Switzerland 6-0, 6-4, and Alexander Klintcharov routed Alexander Sendegeya of Great Britain 6-2, 6-2.

Korean Dukyong Kim overcame Japanese Ryotataro Matsamura 6-3, 6-1, Cameron Norrie of New Zealand thrashed Daniel Guccione of Australia 6-3, 6-3, Medhi Abid of Tunisia trounced Lucas Medler of Austria 6-4, 6-4, Australian Harry Bourchier bested Vietnamese Nam Hoang 6-2, 6-4 and Benjamin Bonzi of France pounded Chun Hun Wong of Hong Kong 6-3, 0-6, 7-6 (2).
