World No. 1 Maria Sharapova completed a career Grand Slam with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Italy's Sara Errani on Saturday in the French Open final at Roland Garros.
The 25-year-old Sharapova, winner of the Wimbledon title in 2004, the US Open in 2006 and the Australian Open in 2008, beat No. 4 Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals on Thursday.
The Russian first reached the top of the world rankings at 18.
Errani earlier won the doubles title with Roberta Vinci, beating Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in an Italy-Russia title showdown.
