PREPARATIONS have begun for the Philippine Women’s Open, a WTA 125 event that was already made official after it was published on the WTA official website.
The event dated January 26-31 will see 32 players competing with a $115,000 prize fund, according to the site.
An inter-agency meeting, meanwhile, was already held at the Philsports Complex on Wednesday to start the preparations for the hosting.

The Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Tennis Association held a meeting with representatives from several government agencies, including the Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Tourism, and Bureau of Customs, among others as part of the preparations.

Filipino tennis sensation Alex Eala is expected to see action in the competition if she doesn’t reach the later rounds of the Australian Open, since it coincides with the Philippine Women’s Open. The Australian Open 2026 is slated from January 18 to February 2.
