THE Philippines split its opening day matches against Indonesia on Saturday in the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group 2 tie first round at the Gelora Bung Karno Tennis Stadium Complex in Jakarta.
AJ Lim outplayed M Althaf Dhaifullah, 6-3, 6-2, in the first singles match, but Indonesia evened the best-of-five tie as David Agung Susanto defeated Jeson Patrombon, 6-2, 7-5.
Francis Casey Alcantara and Jurence Mendoza faces Susanto and Justin Barki in the doubles on Sunday, with Susanto taking on Lim, and Dhailfullah battling Patrombon in the reverse singles.
The winner of the tie will face either top seed Thailand or Sri Lanka in the second round.
