THE Philippine Mavericks aim to complete their unbeaten run in Manila as they take on the Indian Aces on Tuesday in the last day of this leg of the International Premier Tennis League Season 2 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Mavericks have won their first two matches in front of the home crowd, beating the UAE Royals, 29-18, on opening day, before turning back the Japan Warriors, 25-21, on Monday that hiked their match win-loss record to 3-1 and game record to 106-89 overall.
But the second-running Philippine representative faces a tall order in the defending champion Warriors, who are undefeated in the entire season so far, having won all their three matches and put up an 82-64 game record for the lead.
“It’s a huge match,” Mavericks’ legend player Mark Philippoussis said of the showdown that starts at 7:30 p.m. “Every game counts.”
Serena Williams banners the Mavericks once again, while the Aces draw strength from Rafael Nadal in the matchup between the tournament’s pacesetters.
The Singapore Slammers face the Royals in the curtain-raiser at 4 o’clock.
