    TREAT Huey and Francis Casey Alcantara defeated Nuttanon Kadchapanan and Pruchya Isarow, 6-3 6-3, 7-6 (4), on Saturday to give the Philippines a 2-1 lead in their Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group II second-round tie at the Plantation Bay Resort and Spa in Lapu Lapu City.

    Huey and Alcantara’s victory moved the Filipinos one match away from clinching the second-round tie and advancing to a showdown against New Zealand, which defeated Pakistan, 4-1, via walkover.

    Ruben Gonzales will face Danai Udomchoke while Johnny Arcilla battles Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul in the reverse singles on Sunday but teams can still change their players prior to the match.

    On Friday, Gonzales defeated Trongcharoenchaikul via retirement, 6-7 (6), 6-4, 3-0, but Udomchoke levelled the tie by defeating Arcilla, 6-3, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2.
