KATRINA Orteza and Christine Patrimonio stunned seeded rivals on Tuesday to crash into the ladies singles quarterfinals of the Olivarez Cup Open Tennis Championship.
Orteza whipped fifth seed Hannah Espinosa, 6-0, 6-2, while Patrimonio overcame No. 8 Jzash Canja, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
Up next for Orteza is fourth seed Alyssa Labay, who trounced Jenelyn Magpayo, 6-2, 6-1.
Patrimonio battles second seed Edilyn Balanga, who dominated Joanna Tan, 6-1, 6-1.
Top seed Clarice Patrimonio routed Ma. Angela Sunga, 6-2, 6-0, and will next face sixth-ranked Maika Tanpoco, who subdued Akiko De Guzman, 6-1, 6-0.
Maia Balce beat Junnelyn Polito, 6-2, 6-2, to set up a quarterfinal match with seventh-ranked Macy Gonzales, who saw off Jade Capadocia, 6-0, 6-1, in the event held in honor of Philta president and Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez and presented by Palawan Pawnshop.
